Just like in projects and programs, the closure milestone is a critical milestone, the last section of this book. Programs have a holistic nature like this journey. And if we have gotten into the core focus of the book, which is the programs’ ability to enable the processes, people, and supporting technology, to drive change and achieve value, we would know that there is value and learning to be achieved all the way to the end of a program and extends further beyond.
Programs and projects are like labs for experimenting, learning, ways of working, and trying different ingredients to test the boundaries of the potential of the team, the quality of the program plans, and the ability of the organization to deliver a highly connected set of outcomes to the customers/stakeholders of the program/project.
Understanding the programs, our role in the programs, build on the core focus of this book, the focus on change, the right outcomes, the enablers for change like the culture, change scientists, and the criticality of adaptable roadmaps and their focus on cocreation and diversity.
