Synopsis

<cfinsert>

Inserts new records into a data source. The cfinsert tag provides a way to insert data into a data source without having to wrap the SQL in a cfquery.

Attributes

datasource=" datasource_name"

The name of the data source to connect to when performing the insert. Required.

connectstring=" connection_string"

Passes additional connection information to an ODBC data source that can’t be passed via the ColdFusion Administrator. connectstring can also be used to override connection information set for a data source already registered in the ColdFusion Administrator. When making a dynamic data source connection (when dbtype is Dynamic), connectstring specifies all the information required to connect to the data source. For specific connection string options, you should consult the documentation for your particular database. New as of ColdFusion 5.0. This attribute is no longer supported in ColdFusion MX.

dbname=" database_name "

The database name. For the Sybase System 11 native driver and SQLOLEDB provider only. Optional. Overrides any value set for datasource. This attribute is no longer supported in ColdFusion MX.

dbserver=" database_server "

The name of the database server to connect to when using native drivers. Specifying a dbserver overrides any value set for datasource. Optional. This attribute is no longer supported in ColdFusion MX.
