Synopsis

<cfparam>

Defines a parameter and sets a default value. Can also be used to test for the existence of a parameter and its datatype.

Attributes

name=" parameter_name "

Name of the parameter to create. Required.

default=" value "

Default value to assign to the variable if it doesn’t exist or has no value already assigned.

type=" data_type"

The required parameter type. Valid entries are Any, Array, Binary (new in ColdFusion MX), Boolean, Date, GUID (new in ColdFusion MX), Numeric, Query, String, Struct, UUID, and VariableName (checks to make sure the variable you are checking contains a value that is a valid variable name). Optional. The default is Any. For more information on the difference between a GUID and a UUID, see the entry for CreateUUID( ) in Appendix B.
