MOSS 2007 is a resource hog. Its default configuration is to use exactly 50 percent of memory. There's ample justification for its greedy nature because the MOSS platform runs several services, each responsible for a variety of jobs. In addition, SQL Server 2005 also consumes its fair share of resources. The point being made is that this platform requires an abundance of computing resources. For developers concerned with running the software on personal computers for evaluation purposes, you should be aware that there is a noticeable performance penalty being paid to run MOSS 2007.
