Chapter 8. Image processing

The previous chapter covered one-dimensional audio signals. But IoT devices often process and analyze higher dimensional signals, in particular, two- or three-dimensional images. Embedded devices can acquire data from various cameras, including widely available USB web cams and more advanced cameras, e.g. infrared (thermal) cameras. Images are subsequently analyzed to control a specific process. An IoT device can monitor manufacturing by identifying damages in the component fabrication. A small camera mounted in your car can recognize traffic signs.
