Loading Sound Files

Now that we’ve seen how to export sound from Pd, let’s look at loading sound from external files. Again, although Pd is primarily a sound-generation tool, there are plenty of occasions where it’s useful to load external sound from files as a starting point to synthesis. Sometimes it’s better to use a recorded sound that captures a sound with high fidelity than to try to re-create a sound with some other type of synthesis. In fact, a few forms of synthesis are built on loading and processing sounds from memory or from external files. These external files or sounds are called samples.
