In this chapter we covered some practical skills, like how to export a sound file from what we generate in Pd, how to load a sound file and play it back, and how to generate data into an array for later playback. On the more theoretical side we covered how digital sampling works, including concepts like bit depth and sample rate. Then we talked about the difference between sample-based and wavetable synthesis. Finally we wrapped up with the fresh new sounds of a few geometric waves.

Next we will put what we covered in this chapter to work with real-world examples, one using sample-based synthesis and the other using wavetables.
