A point of clarification: There is a common misconception, even amongst certified PMP® professionals, that the PMI Process Groups I’ve broken the next few chapters into are the same as project phases. They are not. The process activities are within initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing overlap. If you are not controlling costs from the first to last day of the project, then you are failing at a fundamental level.
