The Standard Path
Most of us are so delighted when a project is nearing an end we move through closing as fast as we humanly can. Invoices paid? Check. Sponsor signature? Check. Retrospective? Let’s schedule one and run through the agenda as fast as possible.
PMI and other thought leaders focus on the technical aspects of closing out invoices, signing acceptance documents, closure forms, and other artifacts.
The Evil Path
Some project managers will do some incredibly silly things to get a project closed so they can stop losing sleep at night. The worst choice is taking a victory lap at the go-live, playing the douche-card to the sponsor of “That’s a change order and it will take thousands of dollars to add that feature” ...
