The top graph is set up as follows:
Time is plotted on the horizontal axis and Inventory Level on Hand is on the vertical axis.
The origin is marked zero units.
A line begins about three quarters of the way up the vertical axis.
It descends steeply down and to the right until it hits the horizontal axis.
The line then ascends straight up, ending parallel to its starting point.
It descends steeply down and to the right again, but when it hits the horizontal axis, it runs along it for approximately one centimetre before ascending straight up and sloping down one more time.
The section of line running along the horizontal axis is labelled Stockout.
