The following instruction is seen in the screenshot of the spreadsheet:

  • Enter the assignment costs in the shaded area. Then go to the DATA tab on the ribbon, click on Solver in the Data Analysis Group and then click SOLVE. If SOLVER is not on the Data Tab then please see the Help file (Solver) for instructions.

A data table of costs, from row 9 to row 13, has the column headers Omaha, Miami, Dallas, and NY. The row headers are Jones, Smith, Wilson, and Dummy. All the data in this table are shown shaded.

  • The row values for Jones are 800, 1100, 1200, and 1000.

  • The row values for Smith are 500, 1600, 1300, and 800.

  • The row values for Wilson are 500, 1000, 2300, and 1500.

  • The row values for Dummy are 0, 0, 0, and 0.
