The
remainder
of
rhe
exercise
went
off
without
incident,
a high
percentage
of
interceptions
was
achieved
and,
apart
from
the
trauma
of
that
disastrous
first day, it
was
judged
to
be
a success. In fairness to
some
of
the
very
dedicated
people
involved,
and
particularly
in fairness to Wilkins,
who
was
unjustly
blamed
for
what
happened,
it
is
probably
true
to say
that
the
exercise was laid
on
much
too
early. A
great
many
design
changes
were
being
made
in
preparation
for
the
construction
of
the
chain
and
the
mistake
was to
introduce
too
many
of
them
at once. It
