Chapter Seven: Mechanical systems: earthquakes and car suspensions
Abstract
In this chapter, uncertain variable disturbances in models of mechanical systems are discussed. The attainable sets for the state variables are calculated using the differential inclusion solver. A car suspension model and a building's response to earthquake movement are used as examples. In contrast to the commonly used statistical methods, the determination of the reachable sets for the model trajectories using differential inclusions is a deterministic approach.
