The basic premise behind React Native is using JavaScript to build a truly native app. This is different than, say, an Ionic or any other Cordova hybrid app that wraps a web application written in JavaScript and tries to act like a truly native application. Those web applications only have access to native APIs to perform processing, but cannot render native views inside their application. Thus, React Native is inherently faster than hybrid web applications.
