It was 7:55 a.m. on Friday when Deb, my incredibly talented assistant, rang through to my office saying that Richard was on the phone, a bit ahead of time. That’s a good sign, I thought.
“Hi, Richard. How was your week back at the office?”
Not surprisingly, he answered, “I couldn’t concentrate at all. All I could think about was your ‘What’s behind the curtain?’ idea. It even worked when a company that advertises free workshops called me on Tuesday to ask if I was interested in attending another session. Usually I would have jumped at the chance to go and listen to a bunch of experts, but this time I sat back and asked myself, ‘What’s behind the curtain?’ It was then that I realized that among the guest speakers, one was selling condominium investments and another was selling a stock market trading system.”
“So, did you go?” I inquired.
“Sure I did, but this time with a different purpose in mind. I wanted to see it from ‘behind the curtain.’ I wanted to see how the speakers positioned their product and influenced the audience. And let me tell you, what an experience that was!”
