When simply recoloring art, Illustrator replaces one color with another. When reducing colors, however, you’re often asking Illustrator to represent many different colors using a single color. The colorization method you choose determines how Illustrator will use a single color to represent all of the colors in a selected row. In these examples, a color illustration of a flower is reduced to one color (PANTONE Reflex Blue). Note the variety of results achieved when different colorization methods are chosen. You can find the Flower.ai file in the Adobe Illustrator CS3/Cool Extras/Sample Files/Sample Art folder.
