Chapter 7. Handling XML Documents with JavaScript

Having successfully mastered JavaScript in the previous chapter (for our purposes, anyway), we're going to use it in this chapter to work with the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Document Object Model (DOM), the W3C-standardized -programming interface for handling XML documents. Before the introduction of the DOM, all XML parsers and processors had different ways of interacting with XML documents—and, worse, they kept changing all the time. With the introduction of the XML DOM, things have settled down (to some extent).
