These are the node tests you can use with XPointers, along with what they match:
| * | Any element |
| node() | Any node |
| text() | A text node |
| comment() | A comment node |
| processing-instruction() | A processing instruction node |
| point() | A point in a resource |
| range() | A range in a resource |
Note in particular the last two: point() and range(). These correspond to the two new constructs added in XPointers, points and ranges. I'll talk more about them at the end of this chapter. As you can see here, in XPointer, XPath node tests are extended to be able to include points and ranges as well.
