1 Grounds for pessimism and optimism
This chapter reviews the basis for both pessimism and optimism in REDD. It considers a range of stakeholder opinions as well as my personal perspective. The premises underpinning the book are presented, along with sources of influence on the arguments.
Josephstaal and REDD
In 1992 I led the social sciences team for Papua New Guinea’s (PNG’s) Conservation Needs Assessment.
