Abstract

The paper aims at studying the homeschooling scenario for homeschoolers based in Delhi and the likeliness to adopt homeschooling among non-homeschooling parents. Dissatisfaction among parents regarding the Teaching pedagogy provided by schools has been enlisted as a reason to switch to homeschooling in the case study that has been developed from the interview with one of the parents based in Delhi who has chosen to homeschool her children. The case study also reflects that the parents of homeschoolers in North India have limited options for methods also the social linkages like social strata and status symbol are what popularizes school while parents’ unawareness about homeschooling is the main reason for the non-popularity of homeschooling as an option for schooling. The paper proposes regulations for homeschooling to safeguard the interests of children.
