A computer software package was used to conduct the LCA and assess and com-
pare the effects and benets for each of the three management methods. The follow-
ing components required denition in this process:
A. The Life Cycle Boundary. The study focus was on the end-of-life phase in
which the used oil was being delivered for processing, and it was assumed
that all preceding treatments had been equal for the three methods being
compared. Dewatering of oily water was considered as pretreatment and
was excluded, as were identical activities that were common to all three
