We focused our transformation strategy on the following:
• We applied a process focus to the strategy; there were seven pri-
mary processes:
• Sales and operations planning
• Materials and purchasing
• Small part lamination
• Large part lamination
• Sub-assembly operations
• Upholstery operations
• Final assembly operations
• Our course of action went something like this:
• We chartered projects focused on sales and operations planning,
the “front-end” processes.
• Next, we implemented 5S in all the facilities.
• We then did value-stream maps, Lean time studies, created stan-
dard work, created balance lines or areas, created metrics and
displayed on dashboards, and implemented daily accountability
meetings.
