The Climate Hazards Group InfraRed Precipitation with Station data (CHIRPS) is a dataset of precipitation data in regions of the Earth with more than 35 years of data time series. The geographic extent of data is available between latitudes 50∘ S to 50∘ N and all longitudes from 1981 to the present. The CHIRPS data incorporate a climatological database, satellite imagery at 0.05∘ spatial resolution, and in situ data from meteorological stations to create precipitation time series for trend analysis and seasonal drought monitoring.
