Shading

In this chapter we talk about the look of things in a scene, achieved via small programs called shaders. The shading system in RenderMan is one of its best features. This chapter illustrates the diversity of looks that can be obtained using shaders.

Coloring, lighting, shading and texturing are all terms used in 3D CG for talking about surface appearances.
