Abstract
Emissions from transportation account for about 3-4% of total greenhouse (GHG) emissions globally and are among the rapidly increasing modes in the transpor-tation sector. Reducing the growth in these emissions will be important; however, it is challenging too. Various mitigation technology options are available to slow down the growth of GHG emissions from the transportation sector. Incorporating these, mitigation technology can help to reduce the GHG emissions up to a certain extent. This review of literature covers effective mitigation techniques applied in electric power generation, construction, agriculture, transport and other systems that can prove to be a boon in the near future. Carbon sequestration, carbon cap-ture and storage techniques, and automotive mitigation technologies are the major topics covered in this chapter. Developing an operative path forward that enables the adoption of meaningful policies remains both a challenge and an opportunity.
