The Legal Context of Reorgs in the European Union

In every multinational reorganization we have undertaken, we encounter at some point the challenge of different legal frameworks for staff consultation in each country. Invariably, this challenge focuses on the legal framework of the European Union, which contrasts with other regions of the world (North America, Asia, the Middle East, etc.) where legal requirements are looser. Often, this means that the overall reorganization timeline is slowed down. Alternatively, business units outside the EU are forced to make greater changes (e.g., cut more costs) than those in Europe.
