Comparing two types of fatigue and tsunami resisting medium
span bridges

ABSTRACT: Two alternatives of medium span steel railway bridges have been considered to be reinforced
from common design conditions to resist tsunami load. The tropical cyclone method is being used to assess the
effect of tsunami impact. Verification demonstrates that the effects of surge impact and the post-wave action are
different for a plate girder and truss type bridge.
