ABSTRACT: The paper presents a solution to the problem of determining the buckling load of an annular
plate made of an inelastic metal and subject to pure shear loading. The solution is new in that it is based on
the principles of plastic flow theory while being unaffected by the so-called ‘plastic buckling paradox’. New
