ABSTRACT: The energy equation and boundary conditions are discussed to establish the different details
necessary to define the time and spatial evolution of the temperature of a structure. The validity and invalidity
of simplifications and different methodologies is studied on the basis of multiple examples. Especial emphasis
is given to the interpretation of furnace data.
