Introduction

In 2010, news emerged that the Canadian government was making cash payments to compensate victims who had been killed or injured by the Canadian armed forces in Afghanistan. Only a couple of media articles were published, but they revealed that $650,000 was paid out in 2008 and 2009. Almost no other details were forthcoming.
