Abstract

The rampant deployment of 5G has already begun in developed countries. There have been severe acquisitions from the environmentalists about the negative impacts of 5G on the earth’s flora and fauna. This chapter presents the elemental 5G technologies and analyses its impact on the ecosystem. In addition to this, the work attempts to demystify the myths about the 5G and discusses the scope for 5G to transform into a more sustainable infrastructure. The chapter also contributes the Green 5G solutions and policies that are conceived and implemented by various network providers and researchers to build green network. The latter part of this work highlights the potential areas that could be explored to build green and clean 5G with their design challenges.
