The ethical perspective
2.1 Introduction: morality, ethics and principles
Morality is commonly described as discerning what is right or wrong, and defining the practices and rules, written and unwritten, that are intended to guarantee responsible conduct and behavior among individuals and groups. The aim is to maintain or enhance the common good. That same definition is very frequently used for ethics. If we take the example of one prominent source (Kidder 2003, p. 63), the notion of ethical also translates to what would be termed moral when it comes to behavior and conduct.
