On May 22, 1962, Civil Rights leader, Malcom X, described Black women as the most unprotected, neglected, and disrespected group in the United States. Nowhere is this sentiment more evident, 60 years later, than in the workplace. Due to patriarchal and white supremacist practices, work is where Black women are rendered simultaneously invisible and hyper-visible, underpaid yet overworked, and delegitimized yet tokenized.
