Just how much of a problem is gender equity at work? Recent data indicate the United States ranks 30 out of 156 countries in a global gender gap report (Work Economic Forum, 2021). Gender equality is the fifth of 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals aimed at promoting an inclusive and sustainable world (United Nations, n.d.). As the proportion of women in skilled professions continues to increase, income disparities are largely driven by the low percentage of women in leadership positions. Globally, women hold only 33% of managerial positions and 42% in the United States (McKinsey & Company, 2020
