For the last eight years, I have regularly taught a graduate course on career counseling, which uses theory and research on career development to promote students’ reflection on their own work-related attitudes and experiences, as well as their comfort with helping future clients resolve common concerns related to work, such as choosing a career, dealing with conflicts between oneself and one’s coworkers, balancing work with other areas of life (e.g., family), or coping with job loss.
