When I read the proposal for this book, I was struck by who was being invited to “have a say” about building better workplaces for vulnerable workers by contributing chapters to this book, specifically, “thought leaders, scholars, activists, psychologists, and related social scientists.” I then reflected on the current media debate about work, growing inequality, and the need for labor market reform which seems dominated by the privileged voices of politicians, business and industry leaders, and also, but less often, by trade union officials and social advocates.
