Science has made it possible for people to live longer than ever. With the right resources and opportunities, young people could live to see 100, at least (Gratton & Scott, 2019). Soon enough, a 100-year life will be the expectation rather than the exception. The prospect of a longer life demands that we take a different approach to preparing young people for the future of work. Living longer means working longer. Today’s young people—tomorrow’s workers—could work for 60 years or more. This means working through adulthood and well into old age.
