To this point in the book we have mostly discussed the current state of RFID. So now the question is what does the future hold for this technology? RFID still faces some legal challenges, especially in terms of privacy concerns. Cultural norms will continue to be challenged and new norms will eventually be established. Among the major technological issues that will affect all RFID deployments are the introduction of intelligent readers, changes in global standards, improvements in tags, improvements in software capabilities, and reductions in the cost of tags.
