Star trails photography is a ton of fun. However, you need to stay out late, sometimes all night in chilly conditions, to get a great image. But, as always, hard work pays off.

In this chapter of Rick’s book I will share a cool technique for photographing star trails, along with some quick processing procedures. My goal is to give you some new astrophotography shooting options—as long as the clouds and weather cooperate.

I will walk you through my process from start to finish. The opening image for this chapter is the “finished” result of process, but let’s take a look at how I got here.
