Emergency and public safety professionals don’t often dwell on the topic of quality. It’s not that quality is not important; we often assume that based on our training, continuous improvement cycles, after action reviews, and attention to critical performance standards (NFPA, EMAP, etc.), and how critical public safety is, that it’s inherent in the work we do. While this may be true, what is different when it comes to projects performed for public safety and emergency preparedness is that we are looking at quality from several different points of view.
