Sometimes we frame this as if it’s some sort of cliff that we go off at 3゚Fahrenheit (1.5 Celsius increase). That’s not what it is. It’s a minefield, and we are walking farther and farther out onto that mine field. And the further we walk out in that mind field, the more danger we are going to encounter. So, at this point it’s about limiting the danger; it’s about limiting damage. We are not going to avoid dangerous climate change impacts because we’re already seeing them… There is urgency, but there is agency. There is still time to take the actions necessary to avert truly catastrophic, global-scale climate consequences.
