John returned to work after spending a surprisingly relaxing weekend with Jane, despite his phone conversation with Lucy on the Friday evening and the upheavals to come in Oxton. He had read the email that Jim Eccleston had sent out to all employees over the weekend and while by now he was getting used to Jim’s messages being brief and to the point, he thought that this note was particularly brusque in its content and tone.
