Definitions and importance
An Internet search of system integration techniques will indicate certain common themes.
The process from ‘project initiation’ to ‘operations, BAU’ is often presented as a diagram with discrete stages of planning, design, integration, build, testing, etc. often in a ‘V’ shaped flowchart. One side of the ‘V’ is essentially ‘definition’, and the other is ‘build/test’. The author has found several such depictions on the Internet and each has useful features and ideas. As these diagrams are inconsistent and are undoubtedly copyright, the author has devised his own schematic (Figure 33), which picks up the themes explored elsewhere in this book.
