An imaginary project
Some books explore ‘real-life’ cases that have gone wrong – and occasionally those that have gone particularly well – to emphasise learning points. We mentioned in Chapter 1 the website calleam.com, where readers can access a steadily growing body of information about projects that have gone wrong, with some analysis of the reasons.
To help users of this book to align their thinking along consistent lines, we have devised an imaginary project – ‘Project Tiger’. Surprising as it may seem, some large projects that in other ways are well defined and planned, fail to put in place basic and secure project foundations and governance. This often leads to problems and disappointment at a later stage.
