Sabotage for beginners
Destroying vital records
Abstract
Insurance companies rely on large amounts of data, a substantial portion of which is vital. The loss of vital data can cause serious operational problems, and in some cases lead to business failure. Records in all media can deteriorate over time, owing to their fragility. Digital records are especially vulnerable. A saboteur can destroy records by causing a power outage or sprinkler flood. Hackers can use complex techniques to gain access to systems; saboteurs often rely on simpler methods. Secure off-site storage can prevent saboteurs from gaining access to records.
