Post-traumatic stress

Finding a way to heal

Abstract

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) affects insurance adjusters who have worked in disaster areas as well as soldiers who have been in war zones. Symptoms include agitation, anxiety, sleep disruption, sexual dysfunction, and self-medication with alcohol and drugs. Psychotherapy can help PTSD sufferers to cope with their condition. One treatment that is gaining acceptance is eye movement desensitization and reprocessing.
