Using the Font Panel
Many applications that are built specifically for Mac OS X, including TextEdit and Mail, use a font panel. Professional design applications will use their own version of the font panel, but there is a lot you can do with this built-in version. The most useful task is to organize your font list so you don’t have to scroll through so many fonts you don’t need.
To open the font panel in TextEdit:
Press Command T.
You can also go to the Format menu, choose “Font,” then slide out to the right and choose “Show Fonts....”
In applications other than TextEdit, you might find the font panel in another menu, but its command is usually always Command T.
