Quality Function Deployment (QFD) is a methodology to translate the needs of your customers into the requirements for your solutions. Through a number of workshops early in a development project, QFD integrates the voice of the customer (VOC) with the “voices” of your business and technologies. If carried to its fullest extent, it can trace requirements and align decisions for manufacturing, service, and customer support back to customers’ needs. The primary purpose of QFD is to enable the selection of your baseline product concepts and the approaches for service and customer support to be based in part on criteria that drive the most value to your customers.
