Installation on Windows

The Ruby programming language does not come pre-installed on Windows, so you’ll need to install your own copy before you can follow any of the steps in this book. Fortunately, Ruby is free and easily added to your system.

My assumption is that you’ve installed any number of applications on Windows before, so you really don’t need me going through all the details. I expect that you know to read and agree to a license agreement and whether something should be added to your Start menu or not. In these steps, therefore, I don’t discuss every facet of the installation process, instead just highlighting the most important ones or those that are particular to Ruby and may be unfamiliar to you.
