Amazon EKS – Overview

In this chapter, we’ll learn about Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) and its relevant Windows components, such as node groups, worker nodes, and pods, and then dive deep into Windows networking on EKS. Finally, we’ll deploy an Amazon EKS cluster with a Linux and Windows node group using Terraform.

We are going to cover the following main topics:

  • Amazon EKS – fundamentals
  • Amazon VPC CNI for Windows
  • Amazon EKS and Windows support

This chapter will give us the fundamentals for the upcoming Chapters 8, 9, and 10, which will dive deep into cluster interoperability and best practices for Windows node groups and pods.
